Introducing the PFA
Parents & Friends Association
At present there is a vacancy for the Chair and Deputy for 2013. Please contact the school if interested in taking on these important roles.
The Parents and Friends Association (PFA) plays a vital role within our school community. Parents are welcome to join the PFA. We have an elected Executive, and have monthly meetings which are open for all who would like to attend. Meetings are advised in the school newsletter, but as a rule, the first Monday in the month is set aside for PFA meetings and these are held at the school.
Our main fundraisers are: the Annual School Fair; the weekly sausage sizzle and other smaller activities.
Money raised by the PFA during the course of the year goes towards the following: Library books and furniture, ICT additional resources, reduced Camp costs; Year 8 Leavers Dinner; School Magazine; End of Year Prize Giving; Term 1 Family Fun Night; and other extra resources and equipment needed for our children to have a broad and balanced education.
We also have a group of parents who assist families in need where required, through meals and extra welfare support. This could be for those who have/or have had an illness in the family, a death of a family member, or the birth of a child etc.
The sausage sizzle occurs every Friday and a fantastic team of helpers co-ordinated by Leslie Yeatman join forces to provide a well earned break from making lunches. Sausages are $1.50 each (with a slice of bread) and Just Juice drinks are $1.00. There are several children with allergies and they bring their own "special" sausage for cooking. These are handed into the room 4 (next to the office), in the morning, on Fridays. If these sausages could be labelled by putting your child's name on an ice-cream stick and placing this in one end of the sausage. Thank you.
If you would like to become a member of this fantastic group of people, helping to get additional resources to fundraise and benefit our children - please contact any of the above named people - we would love to hear from you.
All are welcome to join!
